About Us

[2018 - 2019]

Don't Look was originally created as a video game studio by brother and sister, Cory and Melissa. At the time Cory was in university pursuing his second degree in Computer Science while Melissa was working as the Graphic Designer in the printing department for a local office supply store back in their hometown.

They came up with the name Don't Look after a phrase their Uncle John would often say, "If you don't like it, don't look at it." Shortly after Melissa designed the blindfolded skull to become their companies mascot. They even had the inspiration of what could potentially be their first video game based off of a nickname their father had growing up.

The two had the dream to make video games back when they were kids and Cory had planned out that they would someday work for SEGA as a coder and character artist. During his studies, Cory was assigned to make a video game and asked Melissa for help on the art side of his project. However, she felt her art skills weren't at the level needed for game designing and felt it be best for her to quit her job and return to school.

During her studies and him now graduating, Cory had found a new passion he wanted to pursue more and thus premaritally stepped away from Don't Look and left the company to Melissa.

[2019 - 2023]

Melissa continued on with the company still with the hopes of someday developing the game that her and Cory had planned to create on her own. This time trying to study the programing side of video game development.

However, despite all her efforts, time, money, and heart, she too had to let the dream project go. Thus, Don't Look the indie gaming studio died before it could live.

Melissa tried to think of other possible alternatives for the company if she wasn't going to create video games. At one time Don't Look was even called an Artist Lab, in the hopes to keep it's small team together but exploring other many forms of art, and maybe bring in some new members during this rebranding.

Finally, on December 19th 2023, Melissa would also quit Don't Look and go back out to pursue a 9-5 job either back in her field as a Graphic Designer for another company or in something entirely new. The dream was over...

[2024 - Now]

On November 1st 2024, Melissa felt inspiration for Don't Look again. After that long reflection, tons of Youtube videos, followed by research, she felt that spark again. For now, and maybe always, the indie gaming company will have to just remain a kids dream. Whereas now, she's found a passion for turning her artwork into other forms of media like t-shirts.

While her brother was in school back in 2019 she recalled him telling her that people in his dorm really loved their company mascot the Blindfolded Skull and were asking for t-shirts. At that time she didn't have any idea to how they could make anything like that but appreciated the love for their company's mascot.

However, now, after all her research into print manufacturers to discovering print on demand manufacturers, Don't Look now has merchandise. This was also apart of the plan when dreaming about becoming a video game studio that she could also create merch for the company and their video games. So even if their video games didn't make it to Alpha stages, hell not even past conceptual stages, Melissa is hyped to be back and to give this company a fresh new start.
